Description

The winemaking tradition at Elba dates back more than a thousand years: Plinio The Old called the island ‘The Island of Good Wine’. The remains of wine amphoras from the Roman era found at the bottom of the sea tell all the story of the ancient navigation. And in the XVII century Napoleon left his significant fingerprint on the island and its wine tradition: not only did he reorganize the mining activities, he also helped develop the production and export of wine. Fattoria delle Ripalte, with its new Rosso delle Ripalte wine, follows this ancient winemaking tradition yet at the same time adds to it an element of innovation. The main grape variety of this wine, Grenache, also known as Alicante, Cannonau and Garnacha, is a very common grape in the Mediterrenean Basin and, is perfectly suited to the dry climate of the island. The results are extraordinary, and difficult to achieve with other grape varieties, which are more sensitive to such difficult environment. Tasting Notes Appearance: ruby red, intense and lively.
